There are a number of ways Liverpool can benefit from the panic buying transfers happening at Chelsea at the end of this window.

It’s going to be insane. As we enter into the last two days of the transfer window there will be some serious cash spent and high-profile players switching clubs. While Liverpool are likely to be quiet before the deadline, they can gain an advantage from the panic moves happening at Chelsea.

The Blues – along with Spurs and Manchester United – are in desperate need of a few additions before the window shuts. Currently Chelsea have made one signing, Spurs have none and Man Utd have just three.

It looks as though it will be the Stamford Bridge side making the biggest transfers. They have lined up a deal to sell AWOL goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois to Real Madrid and will activate the release fee for Atletico Bibao keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.

That will be a £71 million transfer. Just three weeks after Liverpool smashed the record for a keeper by paying £56 million for Alisson Becker. One thing at the back of many Liverpool fans’ minds was “How will the Brazilian cope with the pressure of the fee?”.

We have just got immediate help for our keeper from Chelsea. No longer is Alisson the most expensive goalie in the world. And he now looks a bargain!

Chelsea are also planning on bringing in Mateo Kovacic on-loan from Real Madrid as part of the loan deal for Courtois. That will lead to Tiemoue Bakayoko going on-loan to AC Milan. The French footballer struggled last season and new Blues manager Maurizio Sarri wants to move on already.

Bakayoko was a part of the dynamic Monaco midfield that won Ligue 1 and went to the Champions League semi-final in 2017. He played alongside Liverpool new boy Fabinho and it is the Red who now looks like the real star of that unit. A nice confidence boost.

Plus there is always the benefit of dramatically changed side being put together on the eve of the Premier League opener. Jurgen Klopp has had a full preseason to integrate his players to the club and his systems. Chelsea will be doing that on the fly and that can only be good for the Reds.
