Liverpool are set to miss out on one player linked to the Reds since the transfer window closed after Lucas Paqueta agrees to join PSG.

No sooner had the Liverpool fanbase become enamored withe idea of signing Lucas Paqueta then he was snapped up by another European giant. According to reports from Brazil the 21-year-old wonderkid already has an agreement to sign for PSG in January 2019.

After videos of Paqueta pressing and chasing the ball for Flamengo went viral this week there were many making the connection to Liverpool. There is more than a little similarity to Roberto Firmino in the way he hassles defenders.

The Reds could do with a natural alternative to Firmino as they currently have no-one who can recreate the crucial role in Klopp’s system. At five years junior to the Liverpool man Paqueta was seen as an exciting option for Klopp to pursue.

While the reports do not say a deal is finalized for him to go to PSG they do say it is all but agreed. The Parisians already have a dynamic trio of Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Edinson Cavani.

Adding Paqueta would give them a devastating fourth option and a long-term replacement for Cavani who turns 32-years old this season.

While this news is a blow to those who were dreaming of how Paqueta would develop under Klopp, there has been some good transfer news.

Reports from France are that Liverpool are hoping to sign midfielder Adrien Rabiot from PSG on a free transfer next summer. His contract runs out in 2019 and the Reds are poised to be the ones to snap him up.
