Liverpool have moved above Manchester United to become the bookies favorite to sign Arsenal attacker Aaron Ramsey in the January transfer window.

The word amongst Liverpool fans in recent weeks has been the side needs more creativity to match its impressive defense. Now it appears the bookies agree and have made Liverpool favorites to sign Arsenal attacking midfielder Aaron Ramsey.

The Welsh playmaker is available on a free transfer this summer and has yet to be offered a significant deal by the Gunners. The expectation is he would leave in June when his contract expires.

Rather than letting him go – probably to a rival – for free they are choosing to cash in what they can in January. Both Liverpool and Manchester United are interested but it is the Reds who have been made the favorite with the bookmaker odds.

Just a few weeks ago Liverpool were at 10/1 alongside Chelsea and Manchester United. The bookmakers were giving 6/1 odds on any Italian club being his next destination.

However after a difficult couple of weeks for Jurgen Klopp’s attack the odds on Liverpool signing the midfielder have plummeted to 5/2; making them firm favorites.

There is some debate about whether or not a move for Ramsey would be wise for the club. Much depends on the price and wage packet. It would be a surprise if he left for anything more than £30 million with only six months left on his contract.

But he would be asking for a wage comparable to the top players at Anfield and that may be prohibitive to signing a player who would not even be guaranteed to start.

The Reds may pass up on this opportunity if they feel they can sign PSG midfielder Adrien Rabiot in the summer on a free transfer. It is unlikely that Aaron Ramsey will still be available if Arsenal are willing to sell in the winter window.
