Liverpool are preparing for a significant summer in the transfer market after revelations of the funds available to chase top targets like Timo Werner.

Liverpool will once again be active at the upper end of the transfer market this summer after it was revealed there will be significant funds available to Jurgen Klopp to pursue top talent like Timo Werner.

Reds managing director Billy Hogan said to fcbusiness – “From our perspective, what you are seeing is a continuation of that performance on the pitch and the reinvestment in the squad, which is the most important thing from our point of view; nothing is a distraction from putting a successful team on the pitch.”

Good news for those who are worried that the recent spending on Alisson Becker, Virgil van Dijk and Fabinho will not continue in the future. It is clear that the club is willing to back the manager. It is the club’s success on the pitch that led to last year’s record profits.

Hogan continued: “Putting Jurgen and the guys on the football side in a position to compete at the highest levels, that is always our focus and we see our contribution to that in the form of being able to run the business in a better way and being able to drive revenues to invest back into the team.”

The primary target for this summer looks to be Timo Werner who will likely cost in the £50-65 million range. It has already been confirmed that he is on the radar of Jurgen Klopp – and if we hear about a player the manager likes it means the club are preparing to make their move.

Naby Keita and Sadio Mane have also joined the manager to help woo Werner to Anfield next season. The need for another star forward was highlighted yesterday during the 0-0 draw with Manchester United.

As Roberto Firmino left the pitch with an ankle injury he was replaced by Daniel Sturridge who made little impact on the game. Klopp desperately needs a fourth attacker to complement Firmino, Mane and Mohamed Salah.

Now it looks as the funds will be there once again for the manager to pursue one of his top targets. And in recent transfer windows, if he wants a player, he gets him. It promises to be an exciting summer in the transfer market for Reds everywhere.
