Another one bites the dust as Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold has pulled out of the England squad due to a back injury.

The BBC has reported that the Reds star pulled out of the Three Lions’ squad for their EURO 2020 qualifiers against the Czech Republic and Montenegro.

Boss Gareth Southgate has decided not to name a replacement for Alexander-Arnold, despite Crystal Palace young gun Aaron Wan-Bissaka tearing it up in the Premier League.

TAA is the second Liverpool player to be removed from nation duty before games have begun after Xherdan Shaqiri suffered a groin injury and was sent back to Anfield.

The exact nature of Shaqiri’s ‘inflammation’ is unclear, but it has sparked a few crude and rude muttering across social media as to what caused the Powercube to pull out.

According to England, Alexander-Arnold arrived for training with his back problem and hasn’t been able to recover in time to make the cut. That’s definitely good news for Liverpool, who have only just got the youngster back in action and can’t afford him to miss any more games.

The right-back is so important to the way Jurgen Klopp plays and is already one of the season’s leading assisters, along with left-back Andy Robertson.

This will be TAA a few extra weeks to recover from that problem and return to league action against Tottenham Hotspur fit and ready to attack their left-hand side.

Normally Liverpool send a fit, key player away on international duty and get one back riddled with injuries – so it’s nice to see a little reversal of fortune.

England will now continue with Kieran Trippier and Kyle Walker at their right-back options, while other Spurs players in the squad include Danny Rose, Dele Alli, Eric Dier and Harry Kane.
