The agent of £70 million transfer target Bruno Fernandes has been spotted at an airport near Liverpool but there are questions concerning his visit.

There has been long periods of silence with the occasional cricket chirping for Liverpool fans listening for news of a big transfer this summer. The latest faint noise is that representatives  of Bruno Fernandes were spotted near the city recently.

The Sporting Lisbon president Frederico Varandas and Sporting Director Hugo Viana  were spotted heading into Manchester in recent weeks according to the Liverpool ECHO.

That led to a torrent of speculation as all three clubs have been linked to Fernandes this summer. Manchester City were initial favorites for his signature before turning their attentions to Rodri who they signed last week from Atletico Madrid.

Liverpool have been linked to the playmaker all summer but so far there have been few concrete links. However there have been no outright denials of a transfer for him from local press like there has been for Nicolas Pepe.

Manchester United have genuine interest and have been reported as being in talks with both player and club. They are desperate to add creativity to a woeful squad but it is thought the player is uninterested in working with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and a team in decline, preferring an Anfield move instead.

Though there remains huge questions around the purpose of the officials’ trip, the MEN are reporting it was because Sporting Lisbon and Man City are looking to work closely together.

City have been in breach of European and Premier League financial rules in recent years so I am suspicious of any ‘arrangement’ that happens with them and other clubs.
