Liverpool fans are enjoying one of the nest spells on the pitch in the club’s history but had a shocking reminder that Jurgen Klopp won’t be here forever.

The latest news from Jurgen Klopp may make you want to put your fingers in your ears and shout “la la la la la” at the top of your voice. The Liverpool manager has been talking again about what he will do when he leaves the club.

Jurgen Klopp has a contract with the Reds until the end of the 2021/22 season. While that may feel like a long time away it is only two seasons after this one!

More from Rush The Kop

Speaking to Germany’s Kicker magazine he was asked if he will take a break after this job in the same way he took some time after finishing at Borussia Dortmund. He replied: “It looks like it. Who can now say if he can give it his all in three years’ time?”.

We know the club have tried to extend his contract this summer (Bleacher Report) but he has resisted the deal. Now hearing him talk about a sabbatical at the end of his contract is hard for LFC fans to hear. He continued:

“I decide for myself that I can’t go on anymore, I’ll take a break and in that year I’d have to make a definite decision. I have absolute energy, but I have one problem: I can’t do ‘a little bit.’ I can only do ‘all or nothing.'”

There is the possibility that he is not thinking about leaving Liverpool but having a season off to recover from the years of heavy investment and toll on his family. He spoke after the Champions League final win over Tottenham Hotspur about how his family suffers with his work.

Sabbaticals are not something you hear of in football but Klopp has the clout to make it happen and his comments suggest he’d like to do that:

“But the chances are very high that my energy levels will go up again [after a year’s break], and that I can then do the job the way I want to.”

Hopefully a deal or compromise can be made between Jurgen Klopp and the club to ensure that 2022 is not the end of the love affair between Liverpool Football Club and this incredible leader.
