Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is having his record compared favorably to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer by Sky Sports ahead of the Reds Manchester United clash.

You might think there was little in common between the record of Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Manchester United but Sky Sports have found a way of comparing the two for a hilarious result ahead of the clash of the two sides on Sunday.

Klopp has taken Liverpool to the top of the Premier League for their best start to the season with eight wins out of eight. That is off the back of winning the club’s sixth European Cup title when they beat Spurs in the Champions League final back in June.

Solskjaer, after a bright start, has managed to take Manchester United to their worst ever start to a Premier League campaign, with just two wins and nine points from their opening fixtures.

Though Sky Sports have made an interesting comparison. You can see in this graphic that Solskjaer actually has more wins (14) than Klopp (13) in their first 29 games in charge.

The Liverpool boss only managed 47 league points in that span while Solskjaer has amassed 49 points in the same period.

That may cause some observers to think Manchester United should persist with the Norwegian at the helm. But those stats don’t tell the whole story.

Klopp inherited a side that had come sixth the previous season and was in huge need of investment after the cash from the Luis Suarez sale had been poorly spent under Brendan Rodgers.

By comparison, Solskjaer took over a side Jose Mourinho had steered to second in the league the previous year and was worth over a £1 billion. Since then he has added the most expensive defender in history and a £50 million full back.

Don’t get me wrong: I’d LOVE for Manchester United to give Ole Gunnar Solskjaer plenty of time to work his ‘magic’ at the club. But the comparisons with Klopp are a little desperate and hilarious. Ole’s at wheel! Up the Reds!
