Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will revert his midfield back to his regular trio for the Premier League clash against Spurs on Sunday.

There is a debate raging online about who was better last night against Genk in the Champions League; Naby Keita or Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain? But Jurgen Klopp is likely to sidestep them both for his midfield against Tottenham Hotspur this weekend.

The Reds welcome Spurs to Anfield in a huge Premier League game where Klopp’s side has the opportunity to consolidate their lead at the top of the table and pour more misery on Mauricio Pochettino‘s side.

Liverpool dominated Spurs in the Champions League final back in June and the North Londoners have has a poor start to this year; picking up only 12 points from the opening nine fixtures. They are 13 points behind the Reds already.

Many fans may want to see the balance of the midfield to lean more attacking with the inclusion of Keita’s movement and creative passing or Oxlade-Chamberlain’s direct dribbling and long-range shooting.

But the reality is Klopp will revert to the midfield trio that he trusts most; Fabinho, Jordan Henderson and Gini Wijnaldum. That was the unit that brought the European Cup home against this Spurs side.

Fabinho is a shoe-in to start, despite playing 90 minutes last night, and has become the most crucial piece of the midfield.

While many fans don’t like having both Henderson and Wijnaldum in the same midfield there will be an emphasis for Klopp on stopping Spurs create from central areas. If they can shut down Christian Eriksen, Son Heung-Min and Dele Alli, then they are fully confident that Virgil van Dijk can handle Harry Kane with ease.

I would be astounded if Klopp opts for a different midfield three unless there are injuries or illness. It’s a huge game in the title race and Keita and Oxlade-Chamberlain will both start in mid-week against Arsenal in the Carabao Cup.

Don’t get your hopes up of a different team sheet on Sunday. Klopp now has a ‘first team’ and if they are all fit they will start. And they will win…
