Liverpool fans are on social media begging for Divock Origi to learn how to celebrate his goals after his brace against Arsenal in the Carabao Cup.

There are cult heroes and then there is Divock Origi. He is actually transitioning from a cult a hero to some kind of demigod for Liverpool fans but there is one thing he drastically needs to learn; how to celebrate a goal.

It was another night at Anfield yesterday where Origi produced late drama to win a game in dramatic fashion. The 5-5 thriller against Arsenal in the league cup may not be the most important win of the season but there is unlikely to be a game as action packed.

The Carabao Cup is at the bottom of Liverpool’s fixture priorities – Jurgen Klopp rested the entire first team – but it provided an opportunity for some Origi magic once again. His tally of crucial late goals is growing every year:

  • 96th minute winner against Everton in the derby
  • 86th minute winner against Newcastle in the title race
  • Two goals including 79th minute winner against Barcelona in CL semi-final
  • 87th minute game sealing goal against Spurs to win the Champions League
  • Two goals including 94th minute equalizer against Arsenal

Despite the magnitude of these goals, he celebrates like he just scored a tap in a 5-0 win against Tranmere Rovers in the preseason.

Imagine scoring anyone of these goals. You’d go nuts. Not Divock. He just jogs to the side of the pitch. Sometimes puts his arms out. Sometimes does nothing. It’s incredible. Is he a robot?

Contrast Origi’s to Jordan Henderson; who after his goal against Spurs on Sunday let out all his emotions like he had just won the league, an Oscar and the lottery all at once. Maybe Klopp can work at it on the training field!
