Liverpool title rivals Man City have been dealt a huge blow as goalkeeper Ederson joins four other City players on the injury list ahead of the two sides’ Premier League clash.

At the top of professional sport it is the smallest margins that separate the champions from the runners-up. Liverpool may have been a little bump in the Premier League title race as chief rivals Man City suffered an injury to goalkeeper Ederson tonight.

The Brazilian stopper left their Champions League clash with Atalanta at half time and was replaced by Claudio Bravo. There was little sign of injury in the first half but he clearly had enough of a problem to leave game.

That immediately puts his availability for Sunday’s top-of-the-table clash with Liverpool at Anfield in question. There will not be more news for a few more hours and we likely won’t get any official confirmations from Man City until tomorrow, or possibly Friday, when the official pre-game press conference is scheduled.

Ederson joins four others on a lengthening City injury list; Leroy Sane and Aymeric Laporte are long-term injuries, both have knee problems and won’t see the field until 2020.

Oleksandr Zinchenko is out until December, also with a knee injury, and Rodri is not expected to return until after the next international break in mid-November. David Silva is also questionable for the weekend.

Bravo should trot out at Anfield on Sunday if Ederson doesn’t make it. That will be a great encouragement for Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah who won’t be facing one of the best keepers in the world.
