Liverpool forward Rhian Brewster is wanted on loan by Borussia Dortmund sparking speculation he could be included in a transfer deal for Jadon Sancho.

We are fast approaching the re-opening of the transfer window and that means every piece of news will have a domino effect. Today we have revelations that Borussia Dortmund want Rhian Brewster on loan leading to increased speculation of a Liverpool move for Jadon Sancho.

Wayne Veysey of Football Insider is claiming a Liverpool source has told him that Dortmund and Borussia Monchengladbach have joined the race to sign Rhian Brewster on loan in January.

News broke a week ago that the club were willing to let the English forward find more first team experience after his expected breakthrough into more opportunities in Jurgen Klopp’s side have failed to materialize.

The timing of the news of Dortmund’s interest in him is interesting. Just on Monday a journalist dropped the revelation that Liverpool were in pole position to sign BVB winger Jadon Sancho and that the player wants to leave the Bundesliga side in January.

It isn’t hard to do the maths here. Dortmund will be very reluctant to let a key first team player leave mid-season; especially in such a tight and competitive year in the Bundesliga.

Therefore having Brewster on loan – or perhaps even included permanently in the transfer package – would make a deal far more likely.

Klopp refused to fuel the transfer rumors yesterday when asked about the possibility of Sancho coming to Anfield as reported by Melissa Reddy in the Independent:

"“He’s a very good player. I have no clue where these kind of things are coming from, but it cannot come from us because we never speak about it.”"

Liverpool have not made a major transfer signing in almost 18 months. That drought won’t last forever but we will see if January 2020 is the moment or if the club will bide its time until the summer.
