Liverpool striker Rhian Brewster will head to Swansea on-loan in the January transfer window according to reliable journalist Melissa Reddy.

It has been a busy day for Liverpool transfer news. After the confirmation of Joe Hardy arriving to Anfield from Brentford, there will also be a departure – Rhian Brewster will head to Swansea City on loan.

Melissa Reddy of the Independent has confirmed that the long rumored switch for Brewster to South Wales will indeed go ahead after all the details of the terms of the loan were agreed upon today.

More from Rush The Kop

Brewster came off the bench yesterday during the 1-0 win over Everton in the FA Cup but has not featured in a league game this season. He started two Carabao Cup games against MK Dons and Arsenal but has failed to find the net in his opportunities.

He was expected to challenge for a first team place this season after his return from a year-long injury at the end of the last campaign. However, chances have been rare for the English youngster and he has not grabbed them in the same manner that fellow teenagers Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott have.

Therefore, a loan for the rest of the season is a smart move for all parties. He is expected to slot straight into the first team at Swansea and the club have included financial penalties if does not get to see the pitch. Reddy relays the details:

"Steve Cooper’s side struck an agreement with the Premier League leaders without a fee for the 19-year-old, with only wage recovery and financial penalties if he doesn’t play factored into the equation."

This will be an important step for Rhian Brewster who everyone at the club hopes can develop into fulfilling the potential he flashed as the competition top scorer for England Under 17’s as they won the junior World Cup back in 2017.
