Liverpool are being linked to a transfer move for Isco, but long gone are the days when these kind of rumors sound realistic.
Liverpool have been mooted to move for Real Madrid midfielder Isco but it is obvious to fans and observers that there is no way this will happen.
There was a time when you knew a player like Isco – successful, creative midfielder in his prime – wouldn’t come to Anfield because he was too good or too much money.

But that is no longer the case. Liverpool have the cash to pay £40-50 million or whatever he would cost. And if even Kylian Mbappe is showing interest in a move to the club, I’m sure the current World and European champions would be appealing for Isco.
These rumors are rubbish because Liverpool don’t need him. They have plenty of midfielders operating at the highest level. And if he were to join, it would actually make us… worse?
ESPN discussed this potential move on their transfer segment and came to a similar conclusion. The side is so perfectly balanced under Jurgen Klopp, adding Isco would only disrupt that. There is no way the Spaniard would usurp Fabinho, Jordan Henderson or Gini Wijnaldum as a starter.
The manager also loves his attacking options in Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita. Add to that the ever reliable James Milner and the ability of Takumi Minamino to play in creative midfield and there just isn’t room for another – even a player with the reputation of Isco.
The Real Madrid man has not hit best form over the last two seasons and will be 28-years-old in the summer. There is no chance that the Reds spend a huge wad on an aging player who wouldn’t even improve the first team.
The club have the luxury of looking to the future in the transfer market. They do not need anyone to make an immediate impact. They can instead plan for two or three years ahead.
They need another fullback or two to cover for Andrew Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold and another forward is heavily rumored. Aging midfielders? No thank you. We’re fine.
