Marcus Thuram has been linked with a transfer to Liverpool whenever the window opens again, but who is he?

Reports have linked the Gladback forward with a move to Liverpool after he’s impressed during his time in the Bundesliga.

But doing well in Germany and translating that into the Premier League, and a physical style under Jurgen Klopp, is an incredibly different kettle of fish.

Under former Salzburg manager Marco Rose, Marcus Thuram has either played up front as part of a two or out wide when the gaffer switches to a 4-2-3-1 formation. This will equip him with the skills to be able to play in a variety of positions across the forward line in Klopp’s preferred 4-3-3.

That’ll be attractive to the German, who wants to bring in footballers who are versatile – just look at the deal to sign Takumi Minamino.

His good performances for Gladbach haven’t just caught the eye of Liverpool, France manager Didier Deschamps has been keeping tabs on the youngsters progress.

More from Rush The Kop

Goal reported that he’s interested in what Lillium Thuram’s son can offer. “He plays in various positions,” they reported that he said. “Often as the second centre forward. He’s definitely one of the players we’re following.”

Denis Zakaria and sporting director Max Eberl are also very pleased with the impact he’s had on the team – wrote the website.

He’s a good man to have around the dressing room, said Zakaria, who called him ‘a little crazy.’ But dressing rooms need people like around to liven things up and Thuram can be that man.

But what type of attacker is he?

According to Smarter Scout, the French starlet is an excellent dribbler who is also good in the air. Thuram is excellent 1vs1 and wins most of the duals he enters while in possession of the ball, with a rating of 98/99.

The forward is also a decent disrupter and recoverer of the ball and that will fit in with the system Klopp wants and the desire to win the ball back that the German demands from anyone who plays in the front three.

dark. Next. One dream target to sign from every Premier League club

Thuram is involved in 50% of Gladbach’s expected goals, 42% of the moves that involve in a shot and 50% of movements that involve in a goal. In short, he’s vital to the cause.

And if Marcus Thuram can have the same sort of impact with Liverpool, it’ll be money well spent.
