There has been a new twist in the Mohamed Salah transfer saga that’s been slowly developing over the past few days.

We saw a story break that Liverpool star Mohamed Salah had an opportunity to join Real Madrid within his first season under Jurgen Klopp.

But now there’s been a new twist in that saga as additional information has emerged.

In 2018, Madrid had been alerted to the skills of the Egyptian King following his dramatic and sensational breakthrough in the Premier League.

He quickly gave Jose Mourinho a substantial amount of egg on his face as the Chelsea-rejected man rapidly established himself as one of the finest forwards in the world.

That led to Real making contact with Salah, who turned down a deal after consulting with his national side assistant manager while he was on an international break.

But claim has led to counter-claim and Salah’s people have since denied that the initial story has any truth to it.

To give some back story, Egypt assistant manager Hany Ramzy said that he’d had a conversation between the player, himself and the manager Hector Cuper – in which they gave Salah the advice to stay with Liverpool and turn down the offer from Real Madrid.

But, Ramy Abbas has now used Twitter to state that the conversation never happened. Abbas is called Salah’s chief advisor and completely denied the claims – so make of that what you will.

“Mohamed never discussed any career plans with any ex-coach,” he said.

The most important thing is that Madrid were never able to tempt him away and now Salah is well on the way to making himself a proper legend at Anfield.

His goalscoring rate and his assist tally put him in the top tier of Liverpool attackers but there are still those who don’t appreciate the King.

Salah is still going for the Premier League golden boot, although we won’t see whether or not he’ll win it for some time yet.
