Liverpool are back and it’s going to be good.
With the 2019-20 English Premier League season set to resume for Liverpool on Sunday, we take a closer look at the first match since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Liverpool will face Everton in their first match since the COVID-19 hiatus. The Reds have not played a competitive match since the Champions League game against Athletico Madrid back in March.
Liverpool started training back in May and have since played an intra-squad friendly at Anfield as well as one against Blackburn Rovers, which they came out victorious 6-0.
What should fans expect from the Reds on Sunday? We should not expect them to return to their title-winning form right away as it is going to take a bit of time to get the rust off after a long break such as this.
But this is also the case for their Merseyside rivals who have been on a break-even a few days longer than the Reds.
Klopp’s men were also not in the best of form when the break happened as they lost to Watford in the Premier League, Chelsea in the FA Cup and Atletico in the Champions League. They were able to battle out a win against Bournemouth in their final Premier League match.

Everyone should be fit for the match on Sunday as Andy Robertson and Mo Salah didn’t participate in the game against Blackburn but have been declared fully fit by the Liverpool medical staff, as has Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who picked up a knock against the Rovers.
The Toffees will be without a few of their stars who are still recovering from long term injuries. These players include Yerry Mina, Theo Walcott, and Morgan Schneiderlin. This will definitely benefit the Reds being a fully healthy squad going into the last portion of the season.
The Reds will have a tough task ahead of them considering Everton under Carlo Ancelotti has gained confidence in form. The Toffees have gained the third-most points since Ancelotti was appointed manager only behind Liverpool and Manchester City.
I see the Klopp and his men winning the match on Sunday and with this win, the Reds are one game closer to winning Liverpool’s first Premiership title in over 30 years. With a win on Sunday and one against Crystal Palace during the following week, Liverpool will receive a guard of honor against Manchester City in the Etihad Stadium.
Looking forward to watching the first match in over 100 days! Up the Reds!
