In that FA Cup game, Takumi Minamino was played through the middle, but we could get a glimpse of his versatility this weekend.
After a long break, seeing what the forward can bring to the team will be welcome. Adjusting to the pace of this side is never easy, nor is moving to a new country, but this three month break could help Minamino on both fronts.
James Milner has already commented on how much better Minamino looks in training, and that could give Klopp some serious selection headaches.
The 25-year-old is a pretty versatile player and has 50 appearances as a right-sided forward over the course of his 291-game career. Within those 50 appearances, he’s scored 16 goals and assisted nine.
It may not be his favourite place to play, but it’s clear that Minamino could operate there with a minimum of fuss. Klopp signed him to be that additional, versatile, player and we could begin to see that.
He’s never going to hit Salah levels, but then again who is? A little patience is required, but Tak can do the job.
