Not so settled

Liverpool have got a pretty settled, consistent side but Klopp doesn’t mind springing a surprise on us every once in a while.

More from Rush The Kop

Back in December he went for Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri to start and that went well, and now after telling us all week that Robertson and Salah were fit he went and played Milner and Minamino.

After impressing so much during the last 10 games before the pandemic break, Gomez was back on the bench and Joel Matip came on in his place.  You might have been able to predict Keita starting, but not all three of those changes.

Despite the fact it didn’t work, the manager kept his opposite number guessing and the introduction of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on the right hand side of the forward line was another curveball.

He’s played there in the past but we’re more used to seeing him take up a midfield role, and he immediately tried to change things up by running in behind the Everton defence.

Liverpool were definitely more subdued than usual and couldn’t really create anything of note. Whether or not that was down to selections is up for debate, but Klopp should us that he isn’t afraid to try something different now and again.
