Keeps Dejan Lovren out! How Andy Robertson’s return will aid Liverpool
Andy Robertson will be a massive boost to Liverpool.
Us Liverpool fans were thrilled when it was announced that the Premier League matches would resume on June 17.
After all the trolls on social media during lockdown, it would be us having the last laugh given how close the team are to winning the Premier League.
However, our first game following the resumption of football was a disappointing goalless draw against rivals Everton at Goodison Park with the Toffees getting the best scoring opportunity of the entire game when Tom Davies hit the post in the second half.
Liverpool didn’t play very well and they didn’t have their strongest XI on the pitch as Jurgen Klopp omitted Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson.
While the former was on the bench, the latter was entirely excluded from the matchday squad. In his place, James Milner started before being replaced by Joe Gomez just before half-time as he sustained a hamstring injury.
Speaking to Liverpool’s official website, Klopp said yesterday that Robertson trained normally on Monday and could be available for tonight’s fixture against Crystal Palace at Anfield.

Given that the Eagles have a decent team and gave Liverpool a scare the last time they faced them at Merseyside, the Reds can’t take them lightly.
Robertson’s return will be a major boost for Klopp’s team and I’ll explain how.
Firstly, of course the Scottish international is probably the best left-back in the world right now and has been in splendid form this season, amassing two goals and seven assists. He has had a good chemistry with Sadio Mane on the left flank and having him there would undoubtedly be a major boost for Liverpool.
Secondly, in the previous game, we saw Joe Gomez filling in for James Milner at left-back when the 34-year-old got injured. Having Robertson back could see the 23-year-old get back in central defence, partnering Virgil van Dijk, something which was key in Liverpool conceding fewer goals than any other Premier League team this season.
If not, then not only will Gomez have to play as a left-back but Dejan Lovren who hasn’t been very convincing, will have to start at the heart of the defence for Liverpool.
Hence, having Robertson back is something which has become even more important for Liverpool and it’ll be a massive boost for the club if the 26-year-old starts against Palace tonight.
