Liverpool risk Champions League place without spending this summer
Liverpool risk missing out on Champions League qualification.
Liverpool have some very specific needs, which are not being met with the current list of available players on the team roster. At halftime during that abysmal performance at Emirates in London, I sat wondering who can Jurgen Klopp bring on now to change the course and complexion of this match??
The answer was a painful reminder of just how thin Liverpool are at key positions. It exposed the absolute overachievement of Klopp’s lads for two seasons running. Look at what they have accomplished with virtually no bench.
Virgil van Dijk has not missed a minute in going on two campaigns. Another world class center back is and should be a high priority for Klopp and the back room.
The drop off in talent for subs in the midfield and forwards are a glaring question mark. Naby Keita has played well this summer, but he will need to prove his fitness and consistency over a much longer period.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has never shown the type of intensity and purpose he had before his injury.
Divock Origi is just a body flailing around without purpose. James Milner is a beast, but an ageing beast; and his day to hang up the boots is closer than he would like to admit.

For FSG to put the brakes on now when it comes to wise business in the transfer market is tantamount to shooting ones self in the foot. Jurgen has hinted at another sparse window this term.
They all point to the lost revenue from a three month break in play from March to June as the culprit which will limit available capital to spend in necessary player purchases.
This dog just won’t hunt fellas. Every other super club side in Europe had the same lost revenues for that quarter. And that’s not stopping the United and City juggernauts on spending, or from building strength in their sides just to remain competitive.
Yes, Liverpool have some very good young lads coming through the system. Harvey Elliot, Neco Williams, Curtis Jones to highlight the most noteworthy to date.
These lads are not yet ready for a complete prime time assignment of a Premier League campaign.
Without purchasing wisely in this transfer window, I can safely predict now that the Reds will do no better than 6th in the table next campaign. Remember, you heard this prediction here first.
