Defenders

Virgil van Dijk

He’s the best, keep him.

Joel Matip

Talented and influential but a little injury-prone. He should stay unless there’s a big offer.

Joe Gomez

I wouldn’t read too much into his late-season drop in form given the title was already secure. He’s generally been immense and is the future of the defense at only 23 years of age. With Matip’s injury history, the full-time spot alongside van Dijk ought to be his. Keep.

More from Rush The Kop

Sepp van den Berg

Another promising defender but he’s probably not ready to take over Dejan Lovren’s spot as fourth-choice center-back quite yet. Either keep him on the youth team or loan him to a championship side.

Ki-jana Hoever

Not as prominently featured as some of his peers. Could benefit from regular starting time in a more challenging environment. Loan.

Neco Williams

Got his chance to shine at the end of the campaign and acquitted himself very well. With Nathaniel Clyne gone, he can provide genuinely solid cover for Trent Alexander-Arnold, though Klopp has often favored Gomez in that role. The only concern is that keeping him around would deny him first-team experience, as there’s no possibility of him featuring over Trent.

Keep, or loan if there’s a good opportunity for him to get playing time.

Andy Robertson

He stays of course.

Trent Alexander-Arnold

Future captain.
