Liverpool are moving for Kostas Tsimikas and abandoning Jamal Lewis.
Reports have said Kostas
Tsimikas has agreed terms and is due a medical, while a fee has been thrashed out for the Greek defender.
Now if the Reds can just tie down details for Aissa Mandi, the summer transfer window will already be a success. Hopefully they can get both signatures for under £30m.
Apparently there has been some interest in young Ben Woodburn going out on loan again to Fortuna Dusseldorf of Bundesliga II. According to morning reports from This is Anfield.
After a loan stint at Oxford and no first team call up likely for the 20 year old forward, a loan out once again this campaign is his best option to get much needed playing time and experience.
From the same source report, it appears Rhian Brewster is slated for a first team call up this campaign. No final decision has been made at this point, but it’s looking good for the young forward. Expect things to be sorted when the team returns to Melwood for training on the 15 August.
Gini Wijnaldum has still not signed on to a new long-term deal and is now in the final year of his contract. There has been some speculation swirling about regarding the future of the 29 year old Dutchman.

This is one situation with the first team side that bears a keen watchful eye. Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp will want to dispel and tamp down any grumblings and mythmaking in the press about Gini’s future with the club.
Expect the rumor mongers to make a full meal of this if it drags out into the fall to long. Gini can begin shopping new pastures come new year, if he is of a mind to leave the club.
With Curtis Jones now competing for a spot in the starting midfield, the resurgence of Alex Oxlade -Chamberlain, and Naby Keita might just give him some pause to reflect on his future.
The whole Thiago Alcantara transfer saga will not make him feel wanted and appreciated in the fashion he should be.
This is all just pure speculation, mind you, at this juncture, and there are no reliable reports coming from the club that Gini has become disillusioned.
No further news to be reported on the prospects of Marco Grujic and Harry Wilson. Both have been given valuation by Liverpool of around £20m for summer sale.
This is also one situation to keep a watchful eye on. The sale of these two lads could well fund the purchase of Tsimikas and Mandi.
Look for the Reds to move forward with the pair this coming week. Everything is surely to shake out and get sorted in due course.
With a cautious and measured approach, Klopp and Michael Edwards can start building in the defense as there are cover areas that need some immediate attention.
This, for me, is more important than finding world class cover for the forward feared and mighty triumvirate. The money just isn’t available now to build in this area. It’s better to give Brewster a moment to shine.
Divock Origi and Takumi Minamino will also have this campaign to either ‘fish or cut bait’, as it were. I’ve said before, the gaffer has faith that these lads will come good. And I tend to agree with him, the kids are alright!
Thankfully, the scuttlebutt revolving around a summer move for Thiago from Bayern has quieted considerably in the past week. Liverpool seem to be shying away from his asking price, which, as expected, is beyond the Reds means for now.
