Wijnaldum, Fabinho, Henderson

Another Liverpool big game? Well that means the Liverpool Big Game Midfield needs to start.

If you’ve had half an eye on Klopp over the last two years, you know that includes Fabinho at the base with Gini Wijnaldum to his left and Henderson to his right.

But wait, what about Thiago? The Spaniard would be an excellent addition to the engine room, no doubt about it, but I don’t think that’s going to happen.

I don’t think that’s going to happen for one reason: Klopp won’t pick two undercooked midfielders. Thiago hasn’t been able to train with the side much due to his COVID isolation, and due to his COVID isolation, we can’t be sure what his fitness levels are like.

There’s a great chance he’ll be named on the bench and will take part in the match at some point, but just not from the start. Liverpool will need legs in there and they won’t get that with Hendo and Thiago huffing and puffing their way around Goodison Park.

Wijnaldum will get the nod over someone like Keita because Klopp trusts Gini, loves Gini and Keita may still have coronavirus (but nobody is 100% sure).

The good news is we will have plenty of options from the bench if we want to change things up. Curtis Jones can come on and weave his magic, Thiago can dicatet the game for fun and Keita would be able to introduce his customary skill, power and drive.
