Liverpool will complete a huge move soon.

COVID-19 put the breaks on many things, and our club is one of the many institutions who have been affected.

Finances are down and belts have been tightened, but there’s some good news on the horizon.

A long-awaited move is set to be finalised, and the November international break is the time earmarked for completion.

The Echo have reported that Liverpool will finally move into their new £50 million training ground next month, after a substantial delay.

Melwood was initially going to be vacated last July, but COVID-19 put the breaks on construction over at Kirkby as the builders stopped working in March.

However, the team was able to remain at Melwood thanks to an option in the deal they signed to sell the land to housing developers that gave Liverpool extra time to complete work.

The Reds are now due to move to their new base next month, just a little bit behind schedule. Their new training facility is massive and will allow the Academy to rub shoulders with the first team, and provide youngsters with a pathway to the seniors that they can see.

In a separate Echo article, CEO Peter Moore cited this as an important benefit of the move.

"“As much as we love Melwood, it is probably ultimately not what you need. Particularly when you want to bring through your Academy players into the first team.“The success we are having with the Academy and players coming through, that makes it even more critical. The fact that they were a good 20 minutes drive from each other wasn’t ideal.”"

FSG wanted the upgrades to give Liverpool a facility that is among the best in the world and will include two gyms, a pool, hydrotherapy units, a sports-hall and rehab suites that’ll allow injured players to access the best treatment.

Naming rights could be sold to the right partner, said the Echo, if the club wanted to explore an additional way to raise revenue from the new training ground.

Liverpool have made, or have got plans to make, significant upgrades to the club that will see them better placed than ever to establish a new empire.

Along with the upgrades to Kirkby, Anfield is also being expanded and several stars have been handed long-term contracts.

In other news, Liverpool have been linked with a move for Schalke man Ozan Kabak, while there are hopes that ‘the next Raheem Sterling’ has been unearthed from the Academy.
