There is no two ways about it. It’s do or die for Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp. Sink and the Premier League title race is over. Win and you keep a small flicker of hope alive against an indomitable Pep Guardiola side who have looked impervious amidst their recent good form.

For City there will be plenty of dangerman to watch out for. Klopp will be all too aware of his former protégé in Ikay Gundogan. Meanwhile the Reds supporters will know all about Raheem Sterling.

Kevin De Bruyne will be missed for the Citizens, but Guardiola’s losses will not even come close to the men missing from Jurgen Klopp’s starting eleven.

Thankfully, there are hopes the likes of Sadio Mane and Fabinho can return to the side.

Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp cannot afford to dither against Manchester City.

But the key battle and the key man who will decide the game for the Reds if he can start will be in the centre-back position.

Klopp has now been able to witness his new deadline day signings first hand. And he will need to throw one of them in at the deep end.

Despite being younger Ozan Kabak is the right choice. He has experience at a higher level than Ben Davies and the youngster has looked impressive on highlight reels in training that the club released to the public on social medial channels.

At 20 Ozan Kabak is at a tender age, but he has already looked mature beyond his years. Not only that the Turkish international has an aerial threat which could come in handy for Klopp’s side.

Much has been noted about Ozan Kabak’s poor form for Schalke but he was playing for a struggling side. The centre-back was brought in for a reason and if he is match-fit there is no reason as to why he should not start.

It’s do or die time for Liverpool. And in situations like this you have to make risks. Ozan Kabak has the potential to be Jurgen Klopp’s trump card against Pep Guardiola.

When you come into a team in January you need to settle fast. If Ozan Kabak can do that he could be an absolute coup for the club.

A Premier League debut win would be the perfect start.
