Liverpool have loaned out Harry Wilson to Derby County for the 2018/19 season indicating their confidence of signing Nabil Fekir before the transfer window closes.

Liverpool youngster Harry Wilson will be playing in the Championship again next season. After a phenomenal loan spell at Hull City in the second half of last season he will feature for Derby County this year.

He will work under new Rams manager Frank Lampard on a season-long loan. The 21-year-old was in much demand with a host of Championship clubs wanting his signature as well as the Old Firm duo of Rangers and Celtic manned by former Reds; Steven Gerrard and Brendan Rodgers.

The news of this move is a string indicator that Liverpool are still confident about bringing Nabil Fekir to the club this summer.

The Welsh international could have done nothing more to secure a place in Jurgen Klopp’s first team plans. His outstanding performances for the Liverpool Under-23 side were followed by the productive loan at Hull City. His only appearance in pre-season was a two goal haul against Tranmere two weeks ago.

Klopp has highlighted cover and competition for the Liverpool forward line as a priority in this transfer window. The signing of Xherdan Shaqiri is part of that solution but loaning Wilson negates that plus; at least from the perspective of numbers available.

There has been stated desire to sell both Danny Ings and Daniel Sturridge in this transfer window and the club are listening to offers from the pair. The future of Divock Origi is also uncertain.

The obvious conclusion is that Liverpool are expecting one more forward to join the club before the transfer window shuts. It seems clear from the last week of reports that Liverpool expect to rearrange their deal for Nabil Fekir after he helped France win the World Cup on Sunday.

Once the deal to bring Alisson Becker to Liverpool is completed Michael Edwards and the transfer team can concentrate on the next big target. The consensus is that will be to finish the transfer of Nabil Fekir.
