We are not missing Jordan Henderson
Liverpool are in the middle of a bad run of form but that is not down to Jordan Henderson missing through injury.
These three weeks have brought the worst period of form in the last two years. Nobody would have predicted loses to Atletico, Watford and Chelsea – although you’d be forgiven for thinking we’d lose maybe one of those.
And they do coincide with Jordan Henderson missing through injury, and we have lacked a certain something while the skipper has been away. But we’re talking about a highly elite, winning unit coached by someone who doesn’t compromise.
To suggest that all our past success was down to the presence of one man is slightly insulting to the rest of the squad and their professional pride.

Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Fabinho and Georginio Wijnaldum have all played enough games over the course of their successful careers to be able to take the bull by the horns and continue to play to the level expected of them without one man.
Henderson is a captain, not a baby-sitter, and we can’t put all the woes down to the absence of one man.
There should be more than enough leadership throughout the squad to compensate for one man missing. Andy Robertson wears the armband for Scotland, Virgil van Dijk is the Netherlands skipper. Mohamed Salah is a leader. Alisson is vastly experienced. Trent Alexander-Arnold is a future captain.
And so how can we say we’re losing because we miss Jordan Henderson sending rockets up the arse of the rest of the squad? We are not missing him, at least not in that way.

Luckily, this debate could all be over soon as Hendo should be coming back to fitness soon – preferably by the home leg of the Atletico game, by which time we should be celebrating a win and the prospect of another Champions League quarter final.
