Liverpool has been given two injury updates.

The Reds are due to take on the Cottagers this weekend, and manager Jurgen Klopp has told the assembled masses two new pieces of information.

Alisson Becker, who suffered a hamstring injury in the game against Brighton, missed out on Liverpool’s last three games. However, his return to training today means that he is in contention for the clash against Fulham on Sunday.

The Liverpool back-line has relied on Alisson to save them on many occasions, so his return was always going to be welcomed. Despite Caoimhin Kelleher’s impressive deputy work, Alisson is at a different level and is arguably the best goalkeeper in the world.

In his pre-match press conference for the game against Fulham, Jurgen Klopp confirmed that Alisson will train with the team today. The club’s website reported Klopp’s statement.

"“Ali will train today, that’s what I’ve heard. I came in and came directly to the press [conference] so all the meetings are after that and yes, Ali will train and if he trains and all fine, then he can play.”"

In additional positive news, Klopp confirmed that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is back in normal training as well. The Ox endured a knee injury during Liverpool’s pre-season training camp in Austria, which has kept him out of action for the whole of the 2020/21 season so far.

The midfielder’s return could be crucial in a time where Liverpool players seem to be getting injured every other game. His power, shooting, and injection of pace is something that Liverpool fans have missed seeing.

However, two players returning to training is almost a mere compensation for two others who have suffered injuries. Such is the team’s misfortune right now. Klopp, in his press conference,  confirmed that the club will assess Diogo Jota and Kostas Tsimikas before the game.

The duo suffered knocks during the final group stage game of the UEFA Champions League against Midtjylland on Wednesday. Thankfully though, they were substituted off the field, so the injuries shouldn’t be too concerning.

Klopp also confirmed that no other player returned to training, so he’ll be without James Milner, Thiago Alcantara, and Xherdan Shaqiri for the trip to Craven Cottage.
