Big transfers for Liverpool are essential for keeping Mane and Salah
By David Gate
Liverpool are in a familiar position with big teams looking at star players Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah. That is why they need big transfers this summer.
There is a creeping sense of déjà vu this summer for Liverpool fans. We have already had one huge transfer debacle with Nabil Fekir. Having a player do an interview, video and pictures in a Liverpool shirt only for the transfer to fall through brings comments of ‘typical Liverpool’.
After the big disappointment of missing out on Fekir we are now looking at players like Xherdan Shaqiri and Jack Butland. Worryingly for Reds, we are now at the stage at the summer where Real Madrid and Barcelona come snooping for our players.

Rumors of Real Madrid interest in Mohamed Salah has morphed into some real interest in Sadio Mane. The decision of Antoine Griezmann to reject Barcelona and stay at Atletico Madrid means Barca are looking to Salah as a potential purchase.
Let me be clear – Liverpool will not sell either of those player this summer. Even world record fees would not persuade the club this year. However these rumors disrupt the players and set up the potential for future moves to the Spanish giants.
This is why Liverpool need to continue with big signings; players who improve the first team. The signing of Fabinho from Monaco was an incredible start to the summer. Now the Reds must move on from the disappointment of Fekir and grab another top attacking player.
A record-breaking move for either Alisson Becker, Jan Oblak or Thibaut Courtois would send a message to our current players that we believe we can win now.

Add to that a new center back partner for Virgil van Dijk and the Reds will have done plenty to prove to our world stars we are serious about adding trophies to their resumé. If they still want to leave then let them run.
