The video still making the rounds of Nabil Fekir interviewing in a Liverpool shirt is a fake that has been exposed by observant Reds.

You may have thought the transfer saga of Nabil Fekir to Liverpool was one destined to the consignment bin of Reds history but there has been a new twist to bring back to the forefront.

As negotiations took place for the Frenchman’s move to Anfield there was a leaked shot from a first interview video teasing his imminent arrival. However the deal fell through hours later as the Liverpool hierarchy balked at his medical report.

A long-term injury created too much risk for a £50 million+ transfer and the Reds pulled the plug. That video was then heralded as a new low point in a long history of transfer debacles.

Today that video has been brought back into the consciousness of the Liverpool fanbase with a leaked still being released on Reddit.

That has led to an outpouring of regret and conspiracy theories. Many are still heart-broken he didn’t join us; especially with mounting injuries to the attack and midfield. Others are positing this is an indication he is set to join in January.

However one keen-eyed fan has spotted that the image is a fake after finding the source image from Getty Images. You can see that Tweet here.

Designer @EntireDesign_ has made a name for himself in the fan circles with his awesome drawings of current players in retro shirts. His eye for detail spotted that the image was a fake and found the original to prove it.

Someone is bored in the international break and wants the fun of riling up the fanbase. It’s kind of sad and pathetic. At least we now know there are not leaks and conspiracy theories in operation – simply some malicious fans.

It appears the Reds have turned their transfer attentions elsewhere. Imminent free agents Aaron Ramsey at Arsenal and Adrien Rabiot at PSG are the most frequent names on the speculation pages.
