Liverpool Alisson Becker

Alisson

Things nearly went very wrong at Norwich, as well, if it wasn’t for the mighty hands of Alisson as he stopped a Teemu Pukki goal. Without the Brazilian’s excellent positioning, we might have been staring down the barrel of another missed opportunity to secure the title as early as possible.

February started pretty well, with that excellent 4-0 win over Southampton in which Roberto Firmino grabbed three assists before Liverpool kept another clean sheet with the Canaries victory.

But then Atletico robbed us, the Hammers nearly executed the perfect smash and grab before the Hornets stunned the whole Premier League. Alisson, however, wasn’t really at fault for a lot of that and kept on performing to his usual high standards.

The levels he has raised this team to are phenomenal and it shows how much top sides rely on having a really good option between the sticks. With Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius, you never felt truly settled but Alisson has changed the game.

February might be his month but 2019/2020 has been his year, with the exception of the injury picked up on the first game of the season.

The struggles of David De Gea and Jordan Pickford have highlighted the gulf in class between the best and the rest, long may it continue.
